The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has announced that the Philip J. Weihn Memorial Swimming Pool at 100 West Boylston Street will reopen on Saturday, August 8, 2020 @ 11:15 AM after being closed due to a Covid-19 exposure. The pool was closed after an employee tested positive for the virus and all staff were quarantined while the facility was disinfected and sanitized.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, there is no evidence the Coronavirus/COVID-19 spreads through recreational water. Still, it is important to limit close contact with people outside your home when visiting places such as public pools. Town officials urge everyone to follow appropriate state guidelines and to sign the contact tracing list when attending the state pool. The Board of Health will continue to monitor this situation and keep in contact with DCR and pool officials for the remainder of the swimming season.
