[ARCHIVED] Notice to Residents of Mossy Pond

The Clinton Board of Health has recently been made aware of the possibility of Cyanobacteria (Blue-green Algae) appearing in parts of Mossy Pond. Please be advised that there has been no official confirmation, but visual evidence does indicate its presence. This organism, in large numbers, can produce a toxin which can cause intestinal illness and other symptoms, especially in children and pets Growth of this organism is usually caused by increased phosphorus levels and higher temperatures. When water temperatures cool to normal levels, this growth tends to subside. It is suggested that you monitor your beach areas and keep pets from drinking the pond water. For more information or if you have any questions, please contact the Clinton Board of Health at (978) 365-4116. Thank you.
